Southend-On-Sea singer-songwriter Sam Duckworth (try saying that three times fast) has performed under the moniker Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly for well over a decade now (on and off) and has built a loyal following whilst straddling many different styles from punk to dance, through indie and beyond.

All of this means Get Cape. are as at home on the BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage as they have been on the Main Stage or the BBC Radio 1 Stage (as they have played before at previous Reading Festivals.)

The now ten-piece band (including a 3-man horn section) open the set showcasing the new dance-y style they’ve embraced since returning from hiatus a couple of years ago, with a blistering ‘Collapsing Cities’ to open.

There are also re-workings of old favourites too with ‘Oak Tree’ spiced up with a full band. There’s time for nostalgia too, as a double salvo of ‘War of the Worlds’ and ‘I Spy’ proves.

The set finishes on a euphoric note with a real throwback, ‘The Chronicles of a Bohemian Teenager,’ and of course, the obligatory “BA BA BA” singalong
