Snapchat Arrives at Reading Festival with AR Experiences for Fans
At this year’s Reading Festival, attendees can open Snapchat to capture and share their experiences with AR Lenses made exclusively for the weekend. The first Lens will use fans’ front-facing cameras — or selfie view — and show them wearing festival swag, with different colors for each respective festival. When fans smile, it will also activate animated elements and festival banners.
To get to the second Lens, fans can simply switch to the back camera or world view. This will activate a “smoke cannon” that fills the screen, before clearing to reveal all other elements and confetti.
This is one of many activations at concerts and festivals to come from Snapchat in the future, following the announcement of a multi-year partnership with Live Nation.
