Reading Festival favourites The Wombats drew a packed crowd of buzzing festival-goers to the Main Stage this afternoon. The band from Liverpool graced us with tonnes of 2000s guitar pop anthems such as well-established festival bangers ‘Moving to New York’, ‘Let’s Dance to Joy Division’ and ‘Kill the Director’.  Newer tunes such as ‘Techno Fan’ and ‘Give Me A Try’ were just as explosive and sent the crowd into head-bopping unison. The whole performance felt like one huge indie disco, complete with a jumping crowd and people on shoulders everywhere you looked.

As well as playing their classics, the band fronted by Matthew Murphy also showcased tracks from their newly released album ‘Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life.’ Cracking psych-rock hit ‘Cheetah Tongue’ taken directly from the new record kicked off the set in style and showed the boys are definitely here to stay on the festival circuit for a while longer.

The lads closed the set with synth-pop classic ‘Greek Tragedy’ which gave us nostalgic vibes and a festival party we’ll never forget.
