There was an air of anticipation around the Main Stage before Mike Shinoda was due to come on. This would be Mike’s first appearance at the festival since the sudden passing of band mate Chester Bennington last year.
Showcasing a lot of more hip-hop styled output, the “beautiful” crowd are treated to a mix of new material, Fort Minor tracks, and of course, Linkin Park songs too.
There’s an emotionally charged speech halfway through where Shinoda reflects on the passing of his friend, as the crowd chant along, before launching into a spine-tingling rendition of ‘In The End.’
Overall, the set is poignant as well as fun and a great way to honour the memory of Linkin Park whilst showcasing a great new style and direction.
