Sad Night Dynamite
BBC Radio 1 Dance StageSundayTBA
A brilliant new band” (The Observer), Sad Night Dynamite are that rare act truly making a world of their own: one in which to explore the space between dystopia and escapism, home truths and grim fantasy. Dig into their two highly acclaimed mixtapes thus far and you’ll hear influences from Tyler, The Creator and The Specials to Morricone in songs, even at this early stage, that already sound unmistakeably ‘Sad Night Dynamite’. The project is the brainchild of Archie and Josh, a duo whose formative, somewhat feral upbringing near Glastonbury saw them first meet at school, but start Sad Night Dynamite whilst separated at university. The band have since sold out headline tours including just their second ever London show at Village Underground, been invited to tour around the US with Glass Animals, collaborated with the likes of Moonchild Sanelley and IDK, as well as being named Tune of the Week on Radio 1. Born out of lockdown but now pushing their surreal and genre-bending sound out into the real world, the results have already been hailed “monstrously good…the future will sound however Sad Night Dynamite want it to.
