Essex-based rapper Jordy is one of the most respected voices within the thriving UK rap scene and owns the title of every ‘rappers, rapper’. 2021 was a big year for the artist who dropped his critically acclaimed ‘SMH’ project, was dubbed ‘one to watch for 22’ from Complex and Wonderland whilst also selling out his headline show at Werkhaus. Rapping as early as 8-years-old, his music is a complete representation of his personality which is honest, straight-talking, emotional whilst not taking himself or life too seriously. Retired from
the capital to Essex, Jordy still has the DNA of a Londoner who has been brought up on Garage, Grime, Hip-Hop, and Reggae. He first discovered his obsession for music via vibrant music videos naming; Ludacris, Missy Elliot, 50 Cent, Eminem as early influences. Closer to home, he cites the likes of Ghetts, James Blake, Skepta, and JME as inspiration whilst mentioning comedy legend Dave Chapelle as a prominent figure. Although rapping from a young age, it wasn’t until 2017 when Jordy started to release professionally.
Throughout his musical journey, he’s been lucky to have had huge career highlights that some would be happy to retire on. His full-circle moment happened when he featured on Ghetts’ Ghetto Gospel: The New Testament
project, having listened to him since he was 4-years-old. Just prior to lockdown, Jordy performed with Ghetts to a sold-out show at Islington Assembly when he got to experience the entire room rap his lyrics alongside him. “A13” was another defining moment for him, now a fan favourite, it reached the masses with him displaying his lyrical ability and effortless flow.
