Frank Turner - Main Stage
A deserving spot on the biggest stage of them all
This year saw another Reading favourite make his way up onto the dizzying heights of the Main Stage for the first time, after four years climing the ranks through the smaller stages.
There is a mutual sense of eager enthusiasm shared between Frank Turner’s band of merry followers and the man himself as he walks up to centre stage and shares a bemused smile at where he has now found himself, before bursting into a round of ‘Eulogy’.
The euphoric atmosphere and energy that this unique performer and character brings helps brighten up the Sunday afternoon, and dragged the sun from behind the clouds once more. The set focused mainly on newer work, but rousing performances of older classics such as ‘Long Live The Queen’ were made just as welcome by the audience reception.
Stealing a move from Slipknot, Frank ends his set with a special twist on the lyrics of the chorus to his flagship single, ‘Photosynthesis’. The man from Winchester has come a long way from showcasing the beginnings of his solo endeavours of 2007, but shows absolutely no sign of tiring soon.
